OFFICE GUILT....

Many months ago I received the following greeting from Tom and Mary Miller of Somerset, Texas. I think it depicts your editor's current situation to a tee! I took a full time job the first week in August and I find that the hours spent at home must be divided between the every day business of keeping subscriptions up to date and answering inquiries, filling shipping orders and working on the production of Crown Jewels -- its typesetting and layout and its mailing. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the time to keep up with a lot of the casual correspondence and to those who have awaited immediate responses to their letters or notes my apologies to one and all.

I am arranging for some additional assistance to help with some of the magazine's production, so that I will have the time to get back to some of the fun of "keeping in touch." Thank goodness, I have a loving and helpful husband who supports my publishing efforts!! (And he is pretty good at getting those mailing labels on each magazine too!)

Both my printer and I breathed a sigh of relief when the October, 1991 issue was completed. It will be the last issue in that format. (See the October, 1991 "From the Editor's Desk" for explanation of the new directory format beginning in 1992.) It taxed the limit of the bindery's capabilities so much so that it caused the equipment to malfunction. Fortunately, the printer persevered and the magazine finally got into the mail. We do apologize for its tardiness.

Currently at the photo lab is the color insert for the upcoming issue of Crown Jewels. We hope to have it for inclusion in the December or January issue. It will be worth the wait. You will be amazed at some of the color pieces we have photographed this past year.

If you ever have a question about your subscription, please let me know as soon as you suspect a problem or difficulties with its mailing. Notifying me will help get your subscription back on track right away. It is extremely important to contact me with any CHANGE OF ADDRESS as soon as you know where you wish your magazine sent. Second Class rates will not forward your mail and when your magazine is returned to me you are immediately deleted from the subscriber's file until a new mailing address is received.

For last minute advertisers --- there is a FAX number available to send copies of ads for CJ that will not reach me prior to the 10th of the month deadline. (See "Crossroads" page for the number.)

Another reminder to those of you who are hosting shows. I will gladly include your show flyer in each and every packet of information that leaves the CJ office to those who send for samples of the magazines and to new subscribers. I average at least 50 packets each month.

Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving,
Carol
